Depopulation Program
If you’re a Florida homeowner who has been insured by Citizens Property Insurance Company (Citizens), you may have heard about the Citizens Depopulation Program—but you’re probably wondering what it means for you. We’re here to help you understand everything you need to know about the program and how to navigate your options moving forward.
What is the Citizens Depopulation Program?
Florida legislators and Citizens established the depopulation program to reduce the number of policies under Citizens by transitioning homeowners to private insurers like American Integrity.
Why? Citizens was created to be the property insurance company of “last resort” for Florida homeowners. However, due to capacity and affordability issues caused by frivolous litigation and roof claim abuse the past few years, Citizens has become the market leader in our state. Thanks to recent litigation reform, the market is beginning to stabilize, allowing Citizens customers to return to the private property insurance market.
Here’s how it works:
Notification
If your policy is selected, you’ll receive an offer from a private insurer like American Integrity.
Review
Take your time to compare the new policy with your current one. Our team is just a phone call away to answer any questions you might have about your coverage options.
Choose
Decide whether to accept the new offer or remain with Citizens. But keep in mind that if a private insurer offers coverage that is within 20% of your renewal premium, you will no longer be eligible to stay with Citizens after your policy expires.

Choosing American Integrity Insurance means gaining access to comprehensive coverage options tailored to your needs and an extraordinary customer service experience.
